Ever wondered what it feels like to traverse the stunning landscapes of Wyoming to the top of Laramie Peak? Imagine embarking on an 11-mile round trip hike, passing through high plains, prairies, and the occasional wildlife encounter. This episode chronicles my journey from the city of Laramie to the summit of Laramie Peak and back. The thrill of the climb, the anticipation of reaching the top, and finally, the breathtaking view from the peak - it's all here. As we pause at the top to marvel at the Scott's Bluff National Monument in the distance, you'll be captivated by the natural splendor of the Wyoming landscape.

But the adventure doesn't end there. The descent from the peak is just as challenging and exhilarating, as fatigue and soreness start to set in. It's a test of endurance and determination, but the reward - the joy of exploring the great outdoors - is immeasurable. As we rewind our way to Laramie, we reflect on the journey and look forward to the next. Whether you're an avid hiker or love a good adventure story, this episode will inspire you to embrace the thrill of the outdoors. Join me, Craig Natural Medic, as we venture into the heart of Wyoming's wilderness. See you on the trail!

Speaker 1:

Hey, what's up folks? It's Craig Natural Medic, another episode of the Natural Medic Adventures, and this week. Check it out, going to Laramie Peak, and you can see there's a little shiny object on top of there. I'll be standing up there after a while. Come on and go with me. Woo, okay folks, I'm going to fix a start hiking up to Laramie Peak Trails that way. Just a reminder this is bear country, so make sure you have noise. I have some bear spray with me which I have not been carrying, but this I don't want to do it this time, just to get here to this campground parking lot, whatever you want to call it. It's a little rough but definitely doable.

Speaker 1:

So away we go Down the trail and for this first part I'm on the Friends Park connector trail which connects to Laramie Peak Trail, started in the campground, and we'll have to make a go. Of course it's to go Up there. You can't probably see through the trees very well. I swear I made it. This is quite a bit of a more remote area. I could tell that from the drive. It took me about two and a half hours to drive from Laramie to get to the trailhead, but I just saw in the distance very faint. I saw an elk run across the trail. I've seen chipmunks. It's pretty crazy. I usually hike in the medicine bow to the east of Laramie, which is a lot more accessible, so to me it seems like a lot less wild, but I don't know. Let's see what treasures are ahead for us. Oh yeah, and by the way, I'm going up there, and by the way, if you're liking this video, make sure to give me a big whole thumbs up and a little fact-oage for you Laramie Peak is the highest peak in the Laramie Mountains. Depending on whether you think Laramie Mountains extend into Colorado a little bit or not, they could be the highest peak in the Laramie Mountains. I'll let you decide that. Now you wouldn't think from where I am. Now there's a forest up here. I've drove through about two hours of high plains where it's just short grass, prairie and prairie, dogs and lots of little birds, and now I'm here in the forest. Look at this Forest everywhere. This sign right here, which is partially missing, says Creek Bridge. Yeah, it's a bridge going over the creek. Elevation is 7,600 feet Up. We go Taking a little break About two and a half miles in, so almost halfway, but it's fixing to get harder.

Speaker 1:

I think I haven't been walking in the park necessarily, as is. I came from down there going up here. You can see how rugged the mountains are around me Pretty crazy. But I got this A beautiful little creek. I'm about two miles on the hike here. You probably hear the water behind me Can't see it very well, but the waterfall is down there and over there. How cool, pretty cool.

Speaker 1:

Okay, I just passed, like a local guy and he says about halfway, and I think I'm a little bit past halfway. According to all trails, I'm at just under three miles and it's supposed to be 5.2 one way. So take a look at this view. I drove through that valley to get here. So beautiful view. But if you look over here, there's more tall mountains and more over there, and then the trail continues this way. Hey, what's up y'all? My voice is getting a little deeper. I'm not sure why that's happening, but anyway, check out this view. Wow, that's just incredible. It's gonna be even better when I get to the top. I'm almost there, just about three tenths of a mile and about you know ten switchbacks.

Speaker 1:

Okay, folks, now for the moment you've been waiting for, to see the top of Larmé Peak, and here it is. What a beautiful view you can see way over there. Leave that road down there, if you can see it. As the road I came in on to the actual trailhead that's either Garrett Road or one of the four service roads. Pretty cool and certainly windy up here. But as windy as it could be, that is for sure. There's all kind of apparatus up here Radio towers, just like you would expect on any high peak they usually pick those for transmission towers. Can't really see it, but way out there that's my work site where I work as a travel paramedic, and of course, way past that is Larmé. Actually, larmé is probably over that way. Supposedly I'll be visiting this site week after.

Speaker 1:

Next Scott's Bluff National Monument, which was a waypoint for early settler trails the Oregon Trail, the California Trail, the Mormon Trail, moving west Over in the Panhandle of Nebraska. Supposedly, if you get on top of that you can see Larmé Peak. So I wanted to get on top of it Because I plan on going and getting on top of Scott's Bluff at some point. Definitely out here to this side of it, something more flat, Great plains that way, then the Rocky Mountains, which Larmé Mountains are a part of, or the other direction. Pretty cool, pretty cool.

Speaker 1:

I've had my time up here. I guess I need to head down and go back and get ready for work for tomorrow. We'll see you down there at the bottom of the trail. Bye, what an adventure. Took me about 8 hours to go round trip 11 miles About 5.5 in and 5.5 down. Didn't take quite as long to come down, but still took a little bit Because I was tired and my legs were hurting and my feet were hurting. Quite a challenge. Now to drive home to Larmé. If you like this video, make sure to give it a thumbs up and leave any comments if you have any questions, and think about subscribing to the channel if you like videos like this. I appreciate you hanging out with me, as I did another hike here in Wyoming. We'll see you out there on the trail. Bye.
