Hey there, this is Craig the Natural Medic. I am in Zion National Park about to do the riverside walk. This is at the Narrows. It's a one mile in, one mile out, two mile round trip. Takes about an hour and a half. That's what it says here. I probably can do it in less. There's not much elevation change here. But you can see on the map where it goes. Start here, go all the way up to the river, where you actually enter in the river and do the things. If you want to come and see what this is like, follow me. As with most areas in Zion, it's a busy trail. Flash flooding is always possible. So you have to keep that in mind when you're here. This is what caused the narrows. In brief, you have streams flowing across the top. Over time, the Virgin River has cut out this canyon, and you have all these sand deposits. There's a layer of the rocks here in Zion. Obviously, the canyon is narrowing this direction. It gets wider behind me as you go towards Springdale. And that's why this is called the Narrows. You can really see right here, you've got the emergent river coming through, which actually cut this canyon, and then the narrows kind of continues through there. You can see as we get further this way, the canyon is getting narrower and narrower. So on the side here, we have a weeping wall with hanging gardens. You have lots of plants just hanging out at there getting watered, getting the things that they need right there. Pretty amazing how nature finds a way. Alright, so this is the famous Narrows. I walked to the end of the trail that's paved and easy. Now you have to get in the water if you want to continue down this wet but beautiful path. Hope you are liking it. And if you are, give a thumbs up. Let me know what you think. Now the trail that you take, or it's not really a trail, the area that you're walking in in the water, in the Virgin River, and you continue on the narrows when you get wet, is about eight hours total. About 9.4 miles down to the end as far as you can go. Keep in mind it is subject to flash flooding five times of the year when it's turned off and you can't go through. Or shut off either. Sometimes you have friendly wildlife on the trail. This one wants a snack. I'm almost out of this thing. About three-quarter length. Just wanted to show you these sheer walls that you're walking past. It's pretty crazy. There's lots of river access points along the trail where you can get closer to the river. That was the narrows, and I didn't record a closing part of the video, but you can see it's a pretty narrow canyon that you walk through. The Virgin River. And it's called the Narrows because as you get further upriver, the narrower it becomes. I didn't have the right gear to go that day. I was in mid-October of 2025. And someday I'd like to check it out and actually do it for real. And go down the narrows as far as you can go. If you like that video, give it a thumbs up. Think about subscribing to the channel for more content. I've got some more videos coming out after this on Zion. And those should be interesting. Hope to go back sometime when it's less crowded. It was difficult to film down there at the end of the kind of sidewalk part of the trail. There were so many people. Zion's a very popular part being that close to St. George. And it was hard to get all that done. Anyway, please consider subscribing to the channel. And until next time, I'll see you out there on the trail. Goodbye.
